Recent class project featuring lighting a tabletop series. The first three I gave the shadows a bright sunlight feel, then decided to go with an overcast day, bouncing a handheld flash unit off the white ceiling. These were taken in my father-in-law, Phil's train room. Philly. Get it? Ok, obviously a creative title eluded me. The room is fairly small and the train set takes up 85% of it. You can walk along two sides, or crawl beneath to get into an opening on a third, so the white ceiling made for a big soft box. Since all the people (and horses) looked so casual and unsuspecting, I had to give it the appearance of the dinosaurs sneaking up on them. I like to imagine dino no.6 tiptoeing towards the guy around the house. "Be vewy, vewy quiet..."
Hubster and professor enjoyed the irony of the dino on the gas station, which didn't even dawn on me while I was shooting it. ha!
In post, I added a glint to their eyes so they looked less plastic, removed some seams and strings, added a little movement to a couple, did some general cleanup, and turned them black and white for an added b-movie effect. I thought it'd be fun to turn one into a movie poster too, but the next assignment is already looming, so truth-be-told, it may happen when a grade is involved. ;)
