Zoo images taken in June.

These were taken back when I posted about the loss of their female lion, Vilas. Since then, they've also lost their female rhino, Gracie. According to reports, she lived to a ripe old age, and they are currently looking for a new companion for George. Maybe he and Henry, the male lion, can bunk together and do some elderly, bachelor things. Watch sports, share a couple of beers, become mall walkers...

that's got to be tough on the surviving zoo animal. you can't exactly just go to the local livestock auction or hunt in the paper for a rhinoess. i like your giraffe back. :)

Bea-u-tiful captures, sad to hear about the rhino and the lion though. Your capture of the giraffe is wonderful, love the perspective.

Like the unusual perspectives you chose -- feel sorry for the boys left behind without their ladies.

Thank you for sharing at YSB this week.

Oh the poor fellows- I feel for them. And like Tex said- you can't just run out to the local auction and get a new mate.
I love your last shot.

Wow, these images look like scenes from National Geographic!

Oh and that bit about the rhino bunking together with the lion to do elderly things made me laugh haha.

They're all great shots, but I love the polar bear... so white & such a massive bear... look at those claws, slice ya in sections in seconds! =0

What have I been doing with this silly life of mine that I missed these amazing pictures?! They are indeed fantastic!

Being an animal lover through and through, I can only feel sorry for any lonely critter.

Love your zoo shots especially that camel one. Hope there's another Gracie out there ... a rhino should never be alone!

tad bit of wishful thinking on the 'bachelor' thoughts ...
and your captures are fantastic!

Awww, how sad! I guess that is a good innings for such a large animal. You should write up a spec for a new TV series based on newly widowed bachelor zoo animals!

this blog is my "live" photo album of sorts. occasionally, i'll throw in some art i've done or some work of my husband's as he's an artist as well. we have a nice yard in a quiet neighborhood with two pugs and a cat, all black. which most of my photos will attest too. ;) i'd love to hear from you, but happy for you to just browse. hope you find something to make you smile. b.
