sunday morning brunch
*CREPES RECIPE*
1 1/2 c. flour
1 T. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
2 eggs
2 T. melted butter, unsalted
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Combine dry ingredients. Wisk in remaining until smooth. Butter a 6-8" skillet over medium heat. (Better yet, get yourself a crepe pan.)(Also you can melt the butter from the recipe plus a little more, then pour it in batter.) Tip the hot skillet, and pour 1/4 cup of batter on the top edge and quickly rotate the pan to cover. Grab a wide spatula and flip that puppy when it starts to brown. It only takes about a minute. When done, slide off the pan onto plate. No point trying to lift it again. Place a sheet of wax paper between each crepe as you cook them for easy self-service to the hungry masses!
Fill with oodles of yummy stuff! Chocolate and thinly sliced bananas with powder sugar on top, raspberries and whip cream, Canadian bacon and Havarti cheese, or Science Diet dog food and gravy, all based on our own options this morning. Although, the dogs were perfectly happy to have theirs free of any fillings.

checking his baby's oil
Thursday night, we attended a Bellydance Superstars show. This is not that. This is. They did not allow photography. But that's fine because I wouldn't have been able to capture anything worth posting anyway. I was not overly impressed. Not they weren't talented, it was just a tiny bit Vegas-y, as Glenn put it.
This shot is from last night. We went to see Lil' Ed & the Blues Imperials at the Harmony Bar in Madison. Generally, I am not a huge blues person, however I don't turn down many opportunities to see live music at budget prices. In Lil' Ed's case, I read an article which made him out to be quite the entertainer, so I felt I would need to judge this for myself. Upon arriving, I noticed we were one of the youngest couples there. In most cases, Glenn and I could easily be the parents to 85% of the crowd. Yes, we are extremely hip like that. *clears throat*
We stood fairly close to the stage, and when the music started the small area between us and Lil' Ed quickly filled up with couples dancing. By the end of the night, I had witnessed so many baby boomers playing grab ass, I though I was watching a two hour long Viagra commercial. Maybe blues isn't my thing after all.
But Ed and his royal court were fantastic. He was indeed a showman and superb musician! I highly recommend his show, but for your own safety, avert your eyes to the stage or drink as heavily as those surrounding you. That could've been my mistake.
See several other shots here.

lovecraft is indifferent to ghostcat's affection
Hung out in Mount Horeb yesterday with Luke & Tria. And Ghostcat & Lovecraft, of course. Did a little web planning, and a little rock-banding. It's nice not having a job get in the way of your real goals.
Afterwards, I headed into Madison to post some Schwaklakk posters on the kiosks around the Union, Library Mall and such. Shit, taping up signs in 15ยบ weather should be left for people with a healthy circulatory system. I picked up an Isthmus and an Onion while there and upon reading them saw our event is listed here and here! I'm not sure who gave them the heads up, but it's pretty awesome to receive the attention! It's also listed on High Noon's calendar, where they mistakenly wrote 21 & over, followed by "kid-friendly". It is the later. Sure, it's a bar, but pretend you're in Europe for the day. Sit those kiddies on a barstool with a knife in their tiny fist, and drink up!

naptime for nigel
Yet wakes instantly at the sound of the refrigerator opening, the oven door closing, or the removing of fresh cookies off a baking sheet.

a tidy porch
Went for a walk around my town yesterday with the new 50mm. This is one of my faves from the day. In the past, I've not been big on cropping my shots. Usually, I just frame it how I want it. Since this lens doesn't allow for that, I'm feeling kind of guilty about saying "this was cropped". Like I'm being dishonest not showing it as shot. I'll try to get over that.
It was originally in color too.
Oh the shame.

all aboooooard!
...the peep train!
I would also like to take a moment to let Dan know that I did NOT turn 58, as he claims, but 71. He's jealous because at half my age, he's one-third as attractive.

peep peep!
I had a superb birthday yesterday including homemade Italian Wedding Soup and a rousing game of Apples-To-Apples with friends and family! I also received some pretty awesome gifts I wasn't even expecting! Two of which was a new 50mm lens and a package of peeps! A perfect pairing! And the two people involved didn't even call each other first!
