My poppies are in full bloom right now. They grow right along the east side of our house and are tall enough to peek inside the window. The morning I first saw their happy orange faces, I yelled "poppies!" The pugs thought I yelled "puppies!" and became equally excited. Dancing ensued...

I'm falling so far behind at flickring and blogging, I believe I'll officially call myself semi-retired for the summer. Work is picking up (yet again), there's yard work to do, a wedding to prepare, and the weekends are full of concerts and art shows! You shouldn't even be sitting there looking at this right now. Go on. Get outside!

Rural, urban, rural. Just trying to give you whiplash by getting back to some of the photos from our unsuccessful mushroom hunt. I don't know what this mossy stuff was, but it was kind of pretty in this lighting. Looks a bit like alfalfa sprouts, I thought. I couldn't talk TLC into tasting them though. Some friend she is.

Glenn's been hogging the computer. Got a lot of nerve having freelance jobs. Making extra income...how dare he! I just wanted to post a shot from the weekend before it was next weekend already. Additional Chicago pics are up on flickr, but I've got them set to private because I don't trust the lot of you.

TLC and I spent a rather glorious afternoon exploring Joel's property hunting the elusive morel. We may as well have been looking for big foot. It's too bad we didn't see him (her?) actually because we were both camera ready! So, even though we left mushroom-free, we took home a warm slice of a beautiful spring day.
I'll add more photos as I process some, but tonight I have to pack. Tomorrow, TLC, Cupcake Wahine and I are heading into Chicago to see Eddie Izzard! Front row!! I am pumped. I'm going to take a cup along so I can catch some of his sweat and sell it on ebay.

This is my son, Cub's third dinosaur tattoo. All relatively this same size. Why he keeps getting dinosaurs is a mystery even to him as he has no real interest in them as a subject. Only as tattoos. But they've all turned out pretty cool, each done by Dave Nielsen shown here, from Steve's Tattoo. As an artist myself, I appreciate his skills, even though I personally don't feel the need for a tattoo. I'm too fickle about the art I hang on my walls. What are the chances I'd want to see something on my body for the rest of my life? I told him I'd come back when I'm about 80. I may have settled on one by then.

My dear Spring,
Never again leave me for so long. I've missed your warm caress that grows longer with each passing day. Before too long, you'll heat things up until I become sweaty and aggravated. To which you'll brush me off with a cold shoulder, followed by a long icy stare. Slowly, you'll give me another chance, and we'll repeat this ridiculous affair until I can't go on any longer. I guess that makes me codependent and you an enabler.
This can't be good, can it?

Last month we went to see The New Pornographers in concert, who are amazing musicians that put on an outstanding show. Although, I'm rarely disappointed seeing any talented group of performers, I'm normally not one to go see anyone in a venue that seats over, say 500.
Last night, I give you The Avett Brothers. Hole. E. Crap. You may think you are enjoying a concert sitting 200 yards away from a band with 3000 of your closest friends singing along, drowning out the actually talent, but the only point you are making is you know all the words to Layla. The thought of paying hundreds of dollars to see someone the size of a eraser head, mystifies me. Why not just buy a bigger tv and wait for their MTV special. (Or whatever "the kids" are watching these days.)
The Avett Brothers were absolutely astounding, and I'll acknowledge this with the fact that they were sold out, and attendees were not drunk. A show where people came to hear, not to be seen. Not to say it was a church service, by any means. Although, I've never attended a southern Baptist revival, last night I may have witnessed a few folks finding their religion.
That said, I've already purchased my tickets to see Langhorne Slim on the 26th. See you there, fellow believers.

The plan Sunday, was to take some engagement shots of our young lovebirds, Luke and Tria, but I, not knowing what time the sun sets at these days, had everyone milling around the Arboretum at the exact hour in which the sun would be directly in the faces of the subjects or eyes of the photographer. So, most shots are high in squint factor, overtly dappled, or just plain out of focus because of the inability to see.
This evening would've been perfect! Yup. Sure would've.

I'm long overdue for a post, but I have a very good excuse. I'm just not going to share it with you. Ah who am I kidding, I've just been too busy once again, and when I do finally sit down at the computer, it's to process photos. Such as this one. It's of the hubby and Olive last Sunday at Dr. Sketchy's! I wasn't sure if I should show any that I took indoors as they're a bit risque! But, if you've already put the kids to bed, and care to see the perversion that went on, by all means, check out the kink-fest here. Consider yourself warned, Mom!
FYI—My Mom doesn't read this crap. I was talking to your Mom...
