Someday, I hope to make it to Mexico City for their day of the dead celebration. It looks like it would be an amazing thing to see in the flesh. To see those without any.
Until then, Chicago's National Museum of Mexican Art will do. Which is where we purchased this display a year or two ago. I'm not even sure what to call this thing. A sad consolation for not being in Mexico this very minute, would be a fitting name.

This is me after a thirteen hour work day. There have been many this year.
I wrote Luke and asked him about this japanese playstation game he has. You start with a ball, or some lump of sorts, and roll it all over the room and things cling to it, so the ball gets bigger and outgrows it's surroundings. The bigger it gets, the more "magnetic" it become, so you start picking up cats, then people, then houses, mountains, etc. The game is called katamari. It's completely insane. Just what you'd expect from the japanese.
I bring it up because it dawned on me at work last week that that's what I'm doing. Moving more and more shit around that's grown to an amount that I can no longer even back off enough to see it all.
I don't know how the video game ends, but my version seems almost as pointless, and yet there's no bonus to acquire.

I might need to open a second flickr account. I do my best to get all my dr. sketchy event photos loaded, but I've had little time to load much else I've taken. I'm not sure I want these shots to take over 60% of my account as I really have no idea if my initial contacts care to see all the nonsense that goes on. I just finished uploading all the images from this month, so I think starting next month, that's what I'll do. I'll continue to throw a fave here on the blog. I still need to keep reminding some of you to make an appearance. Although you don't. And you know who you are. You...without a libido. I'm assuming anyway, 'cuz that's the only obvious reason you're not showing up. Unless you've got something against coloring!

Seeing that each day I got fewer flickr views, I think everyone's had their share of wiener.
Tomorrow begins another wiener week, of sorts! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Today we held our monthly installment of Dr. Sketchy's, with our first male model! Boy was a hit! The ladies love their beefcake, I tell ya. They were particularly well behaved really. I was concerned that with the addition of alcohol, some girls gone wild type of action might take place, but there was only one incident of a female getting a bit randy. Boy deflected her quite tactfully.
Head on over to the flickr pool this week where folks will be posting their drawings. I'll do my best to get some photos in there if I can avoid a 55 hour work week...God willing.

I should share that these dogs were being decorated with lights when I encountered them. Two college girls were preparing them for a night time parade. I asked if they minded if I took some shots, and we engaged in small talk. But I was disappointed they didn't pull out any lingo on me. I had always heard that it was required of all weinermobile drivers, to use hot dog shtick in their speach (...um, like hot dog on a shtick?) If you were lucky enough to drive one of these, what line would you open with? Go ahead, we'll all adults here.
(All good answers will be sold to Conan O'Brien. Bad ones, to Carson Daily.)

This weekend, our small town had a book and film festival. We attended a documentary filmed here in Wisconsin called It's Happiness: A Polka Documentary. It's title comes from the fact that you can't help but smile when you're in a room with a polka band and a group of dancers.
I think the same holds true when you see the wienermobile.

It's wiener week here at phantom kitty! How lucky am I to see two wienermobiles parked in the same lot?! Well, it's not that big a deal to see one, as Madison is the home of Oscar Mayer, but seeing two is like finding a four leaf cover while rubbing Buddha's belly! Or something like that.
Anyway, I took a whole series of shots and lucky you, they all turned out pretty cool. But if it turns out I'm too busy to post again this week, you'll be seeing this same image, and it'll still be wiener week either way.

It only took a week, but I managed to load the rest of these concert photos on flickr. It may be I have to go the route of dumping a set of photos on the weekend, as oppose to one pic a day like before. Work is too consuming. Believe me, I'd much rather blog, but spending 12 hours straight in front of the computer doesn't exactly drive me to come home and do the same. Plus, the lack of a life gives me little to chat about.
I'll still stop by, but I may be going the way of the endangered Greg Lee. As he was my blog mentor (blentor), it's only right that I follow his lead.

Peelander Z is probably the most insane concert I've ever attended. They were right up there with Gogol Bordello, only GB have mastered their instruments, where PZ invites the audience to play theirs on stage. If you must choose to be sober for only one, pick GB.
Glenn didn't think my choice of title was culturally sensitive. I don't think these guys would mind. Watch a clip.

Sorry about the delay between posts, folks. It's unavoidable these days.
This was taken from the balcony of the High Noon Saloon last weekend. Same place we hold dr. sketchy's. Great venue. I've heard people complain that it's too small, but I don't feel that way. It's perfect for working your way up front to get photos. And I have to add, nearly every concert that I've motioned to someone that I'd like to stand in front of them for five minutes while I take a few photos, has NOT kicked me in the head! This isn't just High Noon, but every where in Madison. People tend to step aside while I invade their personal space. It brings a tear to me eye just thinking about! The occasional under-age drunk female is the only species that finds me a threat. As if they may want to offer up their perky C-cups to the band at the very moment that I'm in their direct line of the stage. If their beer cup has recently been filled, I will avoid confrontation with this animal.
